Break the Law with Karate

How to Break the Law!

So,
the mean, nasty little secret,
why and how I break the law.
Let me set this up, first.

You ever see ‘Little Big Man?’
It’s a movie with Dustin Hoffman,
came out decades ago,
an okay movie,
with one, big gem.

An Indian is studying to be a shaman,
or great warrior,
or some such thing,
and part of the procedure
is to do everything backwards.

He washes with dirt and dries with water,
is the example in the movie,
I believe.

I thought of that
when I started doing my forms on the other side,
then started doing them backwards,
and tweaking them all over the place.
Very educational.

Sort of a funny thing,
opens up your mind,
loosens you up,
makes you think of things.
Doing things backwards is pretty nifty.
And,
it can be all the way to enlightening,
if you know what I mean.

So,
how often have you driven down a road
come to a stop light,
and sat there while it is red?
There’s nobody there,
no reason for the light to be red,
but you sit there anyway.
It’s The Law,
you know.

I don’t stop.
I look around,
I might slow,
I might not,
but I run it.
Regularly.
I do it all the time.
I refuse to halt my life
just because society thinks I should.

A real human being is outside the box.
He thinks outside the box,
he does things outside the box.

I remember the story of Bill Gates.
He ignored the law,
ran stop signs,
one day got caught.
So he hired a team of lawyers,
they found out that the stop sign in question
was one quarter of an inch too low,
so he got the case tossed out of court.

Probably cost him a hundred grand
to beat a $40 ticket.

But that’s not the point.
The point is that a man who thinks outside the box,
can’t be contained by the box,
and lives a better life.
Has better thoughts.
Is not slowed down by society.

Think about that
while you’re sitting at that stoplight,
counting the seconds
till it changes
and lets you go.

Now,
let’s take it a little further.

You’re doing the martial arts,
people tell you not to grab the fingers and twist,
it is against the MMA rules.
I say…
HEYSOOS CRISTOS!
Grab them fingers and twist.
Practice it,
figure out how much you have to twist
before you get an ‘ow.’
Figure out how to grab those fingers in the middle of a fight,
Make finger twisting into a useful technique!
BREAK THE FREAKIN’ RULES!
The rules contain you,
stop you,
slow you down,
make you into a responsible citizen…

but the essence of martial arts is learning
how to be an irresponsible citizen!
How to break somebody before they break you!

I remember growing up
and kicking somebody in the apples
was considered ‘dirty fighting,’
and people who did that kind of stuff
were looked down upon.

But kicking somebody in the apples
wins the fight!
Should you be the honorable fellow?
Who loses and has a knife stuck in their chest?
Or should you kick him in the freakin’ balls
so hard his testicles replace his Adam’s Apple?

I hope you get the idea.
I practice things people say I shouldn’t practice,
and the more people told me I was full of sheet,
the more I practiced,
until ideas spilled out of my head,
I was considered enlightened,
and I actually felt that I knew something
about the martial arts.

Until I felt unbound!

When you run a stop sign
you are saying ‘no’ to all the things
society is trying to implant in you.
When you run a red light
you are refusing to toe the line,
be a respectable citizen,
and saying,
instead,
that you are
GODZILLA
King of the Universe!

And all the little people,
with their pencils and clipboards,
their rules and regulations,
their holier than thou disdain
are just that,
little people,
and they cannot bind you
stop you
make you less than you are.

Break the rules that bind
and the spirit grows big.

Now,
if you object,
chances are that you are trapped,
inside the box,
behaving because you believe
that society is God,
and you have no power.

So you need to start breaking laws right now.
You need to grab the notion of yourself
as being unique and independent,
right now.
And you really need to break open
your ideas of the martial arts.

Learn a new art,
and you will be twice as smart.
Think about it,
a guy who is bilingual
has MANY more advantages
than a single lingual.
So why not for the arts?
And,
with matrixing,
you get an entirely new and true
totally expanded understanding of the arts.
With matrixing
you get tossed out of the box
whether you like it or not.

And,
in this subject of breaking the law,
I will only say one thing…
I never steal.
To steal is to break all laws,
and to step outside humanity.
We want to get outside the box
of restricted thought,
we don’t want to step outside
of our understanding and compassion.

Okey dokey,
here’s the obligatory link,
for the system I used,
I created,
to help me step all the way outside
of that furshlugginer box.

Here’s a great win…

A WIN!

Al,

I have gone through many of your courses and am currently going through blinding steel and eventually on my way to forty monkeys. I recently went through your book Matrixing Tong Bei. Several things clicked and the martial arts universe opened up after finishing that book.

Release of New Martial Arts Book!

Hi Guys and Gals,
I get emails sometimes,
asking me what I teach.
I have a truckload of arts,
I have 50 years of collecting methods,
but what do I use on a day to day basis?

Obviously,
I teach different things for different people,
different arts for different groups.
But,
what art do I teach in the perfect setting,
students who actually desire to learn,
and so on.

So I wrote a book presenting the series of forms I teach.
I included the three matrixes that I use for techniques.
I included lists of grab arts and where I teach them in the system.
I included lists of freestyle methods
and where I teach them in the system.

Now,
I’m pretty liquid.
People are different,
what they want is liquid,
so I adapt.
But,
in this system
is my best efforts
at forms that are concise,
not so difficult they can’t be remembered,
let alone used.
At the sequence of techniques
that bring people to intuitive self defense.
At how and when to teach grab arts and freestyle drills.
So,
the link is here…

check it out,
see if you get that feeling that speaks to you,
that this might be for you.

and have a great work out!

New Martial Arts Book/Complete Martial Arts System

Tiger and Butterfly Martial Arts Book

The new Martial Arts book is called
‘Tiger and Butterfly,’
and it’s pretty darned good.

If you look at the title,
and you have done any matrixing,
then you can see that I have used
portions of the Matrix Karate course,
and portions of the Shaolin Butterfly.

This was interesting,
because I didn’t want to fall into the trap
of having systems disagree.
I wanted the concepts to build on each other,
not work against each other.

In a way,
there is a certain similarity
between Tiger and Butterfly
and the MCMAP books I wrote.

The similarity is in the arrangement of material.
This had to be,
because when you make a system,
certain things have to be done,
certain rules have to be followed,
certain principles have to be included,
and all the way up the belt levels.

One of the reasons I wrote this book
is because I visited a few schools,
and I saw how the modern schools
have let forms and techniques fall by the way.
They work on freestyle,
on fighting.
The students get better,
but they can’t do certain things.
For instance,
they don’t understand how to take a punch.
And,
they have limited knowledge
concerning what happens
when you complete the circle (cycle) of a technique.

The system has eight belts,
white
yellow
orange
purple
blue
green
brown
black

There are no degrees.
Each belt is designed to be done
in about three months.
Brown belt might take longer,
but the material on the brown level
is pretty advanced.

When done,
the student will have those liquid kicks,
those floating kicks that look so light,
but knock down a elephant.
They should be able to take any kind of a punch.
They will be able to freestyle with authority,
and make a grab art out of any technique.
They will have knowledge.
Real knowledge.
Not just the fast reflexes of freestyle,
but a complete body knowledge,
how the body is constructed,
how to tweak it for more energy,
how to construct it for total effectiveness.

I want you to think about something.
When you study matrixing,
there are several courses,
and I recommend that you do them all,
that you get the complete picture,
from striking to locking
to guiding to manipulating
to predicting to taking down…
and more.

But,
I can’t reach everybody,
and some people don’t understand
just how big the martial arts are,
and that you have to understand them as a science.
They are locked in ‘hit and punch,’
‘ground and pound,’
and don’t see or understand the bigger picture.

This book is for those people.
Hopefully it will get them excited for the big picture.
But even if it doesn’t,
it will afford a massive education,
and do a lot towards bringing these people
who are studying arts that have degraded over time
into the real art.
They will appreciate it as science.

And,
even if they don’t,
if they do the book,
not just read it and say…
‘oh, I knew that,’
or…
‘we have that in our system,’
but actually do the book,
all the drills and techniques,
all the forms and fighting drills,
then they will be doing the true art.
Whether they were stupid and didn’t even understand
what I am talking about,
if they do the drills and exercises,
they will end up doing the true art.

For instance,
at a certain point,
a certain belt,
I teach a type of kick.
It’s a floating kick,
then you turn the hips over and slam the energy
down into the ground
as you strike.
The point is…
you can’t do that kick
unless you use the tan tien
in a certain way.
You simply can’t.
So they will practice it,
get it,
and stumble over the concept,
whether they understand what is happening or not,
and they will end up with classical power
in a certain mode.
And the whole system is constructed
so that one mode leads to the next.

Okay,
spoken enough.
Simply go to Amazon and enter
‘Tiger and Butterfly,’
or
‘Tiger and Butterfly martial arts’
or
‘Tiger and Butterfly Al Case,’
or something like that,
and watch it pop up.

Remember
it is unique,
matrixing brought one more step forward,
and it is REALLY potent!
It is a COMPLETE martial arts system.

have a great work out!
