Dragon Kung Fu Next Step After Tiger Kung Fu!

Dragon Kung Fu After the Tiger

Dragon Kung Fu refers to internal martial arts training, and tiger kung fu refers to external martial arts systems.

Dragon Kung Fu would include such Chinese martial arts as Pa Kua Chang, Tai Chi Chuan, and so on.

Tiger Kung Fu would include such systems as Hung Gar, but would go outside the Chinese to such systems as Shotakan Karate (Tiger Emblem), Kyukoshinkai, and so on.

The main difference between the hard and the soft, or the external and internal martial arts systems, is emphasis on muscles in the hard, and emphasis on the growth of Chi from the Tan Tien in the hard.

Though, to be honest, do the Tiger Kung Fu styles long enough, and you will morph into the harder Tiger systems.

Now, most people consider that all you have to do is gear your training to development of tan tien based martial arts, and that will transform you into a dragon kung fu stylist. And this is true. But, there is an easier way, one that works more in conjunction with Tiger Kung Fu styles.

This means that if you do what I am about to tell you, you can easily transform your hard style into a soft style with just a little shift in your training.

To make the transformation from tiger kung fu methods to dragon, first learn how to make grab arts out of the self defense techniques you practice in the forms.

This can be easily done, and probably the best example of this is the Matrix Aikido method.

Now, here is where the change really starts. You must learn how to use less and less force when doing those grab arts.

Instead of slamming with the hips, learn how to nudge and unbalance, and let the unbalancing technique take its course.

Now, I could tell you dozens of things, but I shant. It would turn into a complex discussion, instead of a conceptual principle.

Heck, take apart those techniques by the thousands, get complex, but always refer back to this principle of using less and less effort.

And that is the way you transform Tiger Kung Fu into Dragon Kung Fu.

Here’s a great article on how to make Dragon Kung Fu out of Tiger Kung Fu, and here’s an interesting online martial arts course on the subject.

Would You Rather Be a Martial Arts Predator or Prey?

A Martial Arts Hunter or…?

Martial Arts Predator or Prey is an odd question, but it has some far reaching ramifications.

The original thought came from a study of nature, where there is one distinct difference between predators and preys.

tekki one

Does Martial Arts Meditation make a predator or a prey?

Predators have eyes on the front of their face, making it easier to fix their gaze and track the illusive runner.

Prey have their eyes on the sides of their faces, so they can better see the two-eyed fellows coming after them.

Now, a predator zooms along, nose the ground, sniffer to the bush, eyes searchign for a fix.

A prey, just to name a few instances, sails through the air, above the fray, enjoying the peace and calm of uplifing air currents.

Yes, I know the oddities and inconsistencies with such an argument, but i just wanted to make you think.

You see, man has his eyes on the front of his face. But is being a predator really all that great? There’s adrenaline in feeling the trigger getting pulled, but one is slave to the trigger, has to hunt, has to fight.

On the other hand, once one realizes that he is not just a pair of eyes and a set of teeth, the world widens, becomes larger, and there is so much to be seen. Not just in front of his face, waiting for the plate to be set down, but in a world that encircles and enlivens and brings a vast wealth of different experiences and new sensations.

Man is not just the fact of being encased in a flesh suit in which he can only peer through the eyeball apparatus, or hear through the auditory equipment, or smell through the big thing separating the eyeballs.

Man is an Awareness, a creature of no flesh that exists outside the flesh, and that is what is looking through the perceptic tools.

Not a meat craving werewolf, like one will see in the octagon, or encounter on the raging streets, but a compassionate and caring…individual.

Not a pack, but a person.

I know I have slanted this article, and the point isn’t to make little of the hunters in this society, but to open the door, to guide the thought processes towards the true potential that is a man.

So, would you rather be a martial arts predator or prey? Either one, the martial arts are the method that will help you realize that choice.

Matrix Martial Arts Animals

The Matrix Animals!

Top of the morning to you…
and a tip top work out to you!
To stretch, to warm up, to work out…
to be glowing all day long!
That’s what a work out is all about!
First,
thanks to all who have purchased
the 500 Martial Arts articles.
Your contribution to the Great Matrixing tour is appreciated.
And,
if you haven’t seen this book yet,
it is in the bookstore
at ChurchofMartialArt(dot)com.
Second,
there ain’t no second,
let’s get into it!
Matrixing is based on geometry.
I always heard people say geometry is worthless,
but I found it pretty valuable.
The basic geometry is
force with force
force with flow
flow with force
flow with flow
Now,
if you just realized
that you have seen the sum total of the martial arts
described in a basic face to face confrontation
that results in geometry,
perfect.
It breaks down like this…
force against force
force against flow
flow with force
flow with flow
Now,
this is the theory,
and if you want the actual breakdown of technique
the resulting geometries,
the strategies that become manifest,
just take a look at Create Your Own Art.
This will give you an analysis
that will open your mind.
But,
I wouldn’t advise it.
It would be far better
to do the other matrixing courses first.
You see
Karate is force against force
Kung fu is force with flow
tai chi is flow with force
aikido is flow with flow
Now,
the problem is that
as I have listed the arts here,
they doesn’t exactly fit together.
It’s close,
but it isn’t perfect.
And,
it doesn’t take into account a lot of other arts
or even styles of arts.
But,
if you do the courses
you will see how to smooth out the edges,
make the arts fit together seamlessly.
The problem,
you see,
is that the arts weren’t created with the whole picture in mind.
They weren’t created to be part of one geometrical whole.
But…
we can fix that.
Matrixing will unslant the art,
unbias the concepts and make them pure,
and then the concepts,
and the whole martial arts,
will fit together,
and make one nice
easy to make work picture.
Oh,
it is still tough,
your mind is going to have to tweak and adjust,
but you can do it.
You just have to throw yourself into matrixing,
overcome the influences that tweak the arts out of true,
and make it happen.
Lot of work.
But,
as you know with the martial arts
this just means a lot of fun.
Heck,
I started studying in 1967,
and every single art I have studied
has been nothing but fun.
Now,
this brings us to the question
of the title of this newsletter.
What are the matrixing animals?
The tiger represents karate
the crane and the snake represent tai chi
the butterfly represents kung fu
the dragon represents tai chi chuan
Those are the five animals of matrixing.
Yes,
I do have certain animal symbols I like and use.
Yes,
there is a certain trade off with the five original kung fu animals,
and I do use the Monkey,
especially with weapons and takedowns and such.
Now,
the trick is this…
animals represent emotions
and modes of motion,
and matrixing is not about animals,
and emotions
(though we use emotions when appropriate)
but about analyzing motion.
So the animals are a convenience,
a method for enhancing and embracing certain geometrical strategies.
They are not a mythology.
But,
whether you wish to view matrixing
from an animalistic viewpoint
or a geometrical viewpoint,
or a logical or philosophical or even religious viewpoint
doesn’t matter.
All that matters is that you throw yourself into it.
It is a field of study,
a science,
and while you could enter it
from the viewpoint of any art,
you can’t just study a piece of it
and think that is all there is,
or that you know it all,
or something like that.
You need to eat the whole thing.
Just like the snake eats the yin yang in my monster symbol,
or the tiger pounces on the yin yang
or the instructor holds the yin yang…
you have to look for the whole picture of all the arts,
and break it down into matrixing concepts.
Now,
let me give you a real heads up on this thing
of studying ALL of matrixing.
Go to this URL
It is the black belt course,

But they haven’t,
and you won’t see it again.

one last thing…
