Using the Karate Stance to Build True Power in the Martial Arts!

Sinking and Screwing to Power Up Your Karate Stance

One of the main differences between art and sport in the arena of the Martial Arts, is the ability to sink and screw, such as in good Karate stance.

This difference, what I refer to as sink and screw in Karate Stances, is drastic. Oddly, almost nobody ever talks about it, or, if they do, they pass it off. Continue reading

Mad Monkey Gung Fu

Mad Monkey Gung Fu was one of my favorite Kung Fu flix. It was put out in the seventies, I believe, probably Shaw Brothers, and this was the heyday of trampoline Gung Fu.

Martial Arts Action Hero Jackie Chan!

Man, these guys would jump out of trees, bounce fifty feet in the air, throw a fantastic array of jumping, spinning deathdealing kicks…we don’t need no stinkin’ wires!

Anyway, the plot was pretty much the same old same old, guy gets beat up, his master gets killed by the bad guy, hero on the run…or something like that.

What made this kung fu flick over and above was the training sequence. All those old chop sockies had training sequences, and the thing of it is…some of those movie fantasies were COOL!

This one had the hero strike with the fingers, then the first set of knuckles, and then the fist. BANG, BANG, BANG! Three strikes, a jackhammer of destruction.

The theory was that the bad guy might be able to close his pulse (weak point, or point of body being struck) once, but not twice, and certainly not three times in a row.

Now, I took that training trick and started playing with it. I came up with all sorts of variations. Different fingers, different rhythms, all sorts of things. And, I eventually put a hole in the bathroom wall with my finger strike. That’s right, I used to sit on the pot and practice my mad monkey kung fu on the wall above the paper holder.

The hole didn’t make my wife happy, but it tickled the stuff out of me. I was going somewhere!

So, you have two things to do now, if you want to explore dim mak poison hand touch, or any kind of one inch punch type of strike.

One, find a copy of mad monkey gung fu, and, two, start practicing your mad monkey strike on anything that comes close to you.
