Why Do I Need a Black Belt from You…

Thanks to all who have purchased
The Biggest Martial Arts Lesson of All!
It’s available on Amazon.
I’ll be putting up links and ads for it
one of these days.

I’m not good at social media,
but I was trying to figure it out the other day,
and came across a site
with a lot of bad things to say about me.
I usually laugh at these things,
they’re always written by people
who have never taken a course,
but have an opinion.

For whatever reason,
maybe the desire for abuse,
I read a couple of the ‘complaints.’
And, man,
I got a good one.

‘Why do I need a black belt from you
if I already have one?’

the complaint was old,
no way to really respond,
and I actually did want to respond.
My answer would have been:

because your system is probably flawed,
because you monkey see and monkey do learned
without understanding what you are doing.

I respect that the guy has probably put in some work,
maybe even a few years,
endured some bruises and such,
but he’s basically working at 10%
if he doesn’t know the reasons behind what he is doing.
The unfortunate news is
he wasn’t asking seriously,
he wasn’t seeking,
he was just being a Beavis and Butthead type of guy,
smart mouthing me.

That’s the trouble,
you see.
People want to argue without the facts.
You see it in politics.
The idiot who says things like:
‘You’re a racist,’
when there is NO hint of racism.
Or starts calling people names,
when you ask for the facts.

There is just a s segment of the population,
and this is true of the whole world,
that wants to be heard,
without taking the time to learn anything beforehand.

this is true in the martial arts.
‘Al is bad,
you can’t make a black belt
in less than three years!’

you can,
I’ve got video proof,
but they don’t take the time to see the proof,
they just want to be heard.

Ever hear that old saw?
‘Those who speak do not know,
those who know do not speak.’

That says it all.

for anybody who DOES want the proof,
who DOES wish to seek out the true martial arts…

Matrix Karate puts order in Karate
(and the martial arts)

There is a COMPLETE course of classical karate

There is video proof on the three month black belt course
(120 lessons!)

if you can’t afford the SMALL sum asked,
you could always look through my books for proof.

Outlaw Karate: The Secret of the One Year Black Belt,
and many others…

you could simply read my blog,
do a search for the term Master Instructor,
or other related terms,
you will come up with TONS of testimonials,
actual case histories,
if you will,
written by the people who have done the courses,
people who didn’t voice an opinion,
but went looking for the truth.

The truth is scientific.
It can’t be argued with.
But it can be ignored,
it is usually ignored by those who ‘write’ the loudest.

and a great work out!

Four Year Incubation Period to Get to Black Belt in Karate

Four Years to Black Belt? No Way!

It often irks me when people talk about it taking four years to get to Black Belt in Karate. This is one of the most insidious and stupid concepts that has ever taken root in the martial arts. And, I might add, it is just as stupid in any art, be it Aikido or Taekwondo or whatever.

Reverse Your Thinking...Get to Black Belt in a Few Months!

Martial Arts instructors who push this concept often claim that it takes that long for the body to change. The tendons have to elongate and the muscles have to striate and the bones have to do whatever bones do when you block and punch with them. This is, of course, a justification for time, when their real motive is to keep a student on contract, or to enhance their authority, or some other tawdry reason.

I’m sure there is some change in the body over time, but not that much. The fact is that if you gave a black belt and a white belt a battery of physical tests, the black belt would have an edge, but not much. Black belts and white belts train side by side in many classes, and except for a little more huffing and puffing, within a month the white belt keeps up.

So it takes about a month to recondition the body, and this is easily provable if you just look at the army. They take a person and totally change his physique within two months. So the idea that it is going to take four years to reach some mythical, ideal body state is silly.

The second half of this equation, or point number two, has to do with history and the people who have made it to black belt. There are people, pretty famous people, who have made it to black belt fast…Mike Stone six months, Chuck Norris a year and a half, Joe Lewis made black belt in three different styles in one year…and so on. So it is possible, but you have to break out of the mind mold that has been sold you, that it takes four years to get to black belt.

Now we come to the kicker on this. Where did the four year to black belt idea come from? Actually, it came from a guy who didn’t even get his black belt…it came from Ed Parker.

Ed Parker was teaching people kenpo when it was still just karate, and he was a brown belt. He went home to Hawaii and asked his instructor for more techniques because he was running out, and he was told no. I guess Thunderbolt Chow didn’t think much of Ed Parker, because he refused to teach him more, and he wouldn’t promote him.

So Ed Parker went back to the US, found somebody else to help him put a system together, and began selling karate like you would sell cars. A couple of his students (the Tracey Brothers) actually got a car salesman to train them how to put people on contracts for the length of time it takes to pay off a car…four years. And that is the truth behind why it takes four years to earn a black belt in Karate, or Aikido, or Kenpo, or just about any martial art that bought into this idea.

The Truth About Learning Time to Black Belt

Great Martial ArtsI just received the most interesting communication about learning time to Black Belt. I mean, how long does it take for somebody to get to Black Belt? Here’s a bit of the email I received.

Your blog about your teacher taking 2 1/2 years to get a black belt and then after the changes it took you 7 really hit home. That has been my observation as well I’m glad others see it too.

This fellow went on to tell how his instructor took a year off to get a balck belt in another system, then turned around and offered his own students a four year program to black belt.

WTF? eh?

Look, there are a few people who need a longer runway, but most people can get their black belt in a couple of years, and even less.

Instructors who believe otherwise just don’t know their art, or they are hung up in the mysticism, or they are just, let’s face it, making money.

But martial arts are knowledge, and knowledge can be passed on pretty quick. Theone big bugaboo to all this is that instructors back up their four year programs by saying things like, ‘it takes that long to instill muscle memory int hebody, or some such garbage.

Look, it isn’t the body that is fighting, it is you, the human being. It’s how fast you canlearn, not how fast your body can collect bruises.

Heck, if we follow this ‘muscle memory’ argument out to the end…it means that you can teach a kid to play the piano by hitting him on the head with a piano.

Argh! Never thought I’d get irritated in a blog, but the silliness, and the money hungry grubbing of some instructors..,.

anyway, don’t get me wrong. I believe in classical schools,I believe that people should study martial arts for their whole lifetime. I just don’t think it should take a long time to get the basic knowledge down.

Anyway, that’s my take on how long it takes to earn a black belt. You guys have a great day, and if you want to look into some REALLY fast training methods, come on over to http://www.monstermartialarts.com. Pick up the fre ebook at the top of the home page while you’re there.

Martial Artists Officially Designated as Smarter Than a Pigeon

When I started putting together faster ways for martial artists to learn I was struck by how people objected to it.

Got to take four to five years to Black Belt, got to take twenty years to master.

But I had been made an instructor in Kenpo in a year. And shortly after that I wrote the training manual for the school.

At the Kang Duk Won people had taken 2 1/2 years to Black Belt in the sixties, but in the seventies it was taking them 4 – 5 years.

So things weren’t all they seemed, but nobody was thinking about it.

But I knew that Chuck Norris was rumored to have earned his black belt in under two years, and Mike Stone had managed to get his in six months!

And the US army could make a soldier in a couple of months.

So what was the big deal?  What was taking so long?

I began to delve into methods. Not just studying the art to be a black belt, but to understand what a black belt was, and what was the real amount of time needed.

I took apart systems, rearranged them, categorized techniques, and so on.

In the end, I realized that it took very little time, a year if the student received the right data. And some students could even make it in months.

But they had to receive the exact data as to what a kick was, what a form was, what a technique was. If they didn’t receive that data, then they ended up spending years of practice.

The old saying, ‘practice makes perfect,’ is wrong. Practice doesn’t make perfect, only perfect practice makes perfect. If you are practicing perfect from the get go, it doesn’t take long at all.

In the end, I developed Matrixing, and all the theory on the Master Instructor Course, and things will never be the same.

Old Time Martial Artists can complain, and hold up time standards of several years to black belt, but the truth is that you can develop a person’s abilities in an amazingly short period of time, and the real test is one of knowledge and usability.

Does the martial artist know the underlying theory…can he make his art work?

No other standard need apply, for any other standard is the real bogus.

Anyway, to get to the point of the title of this piece, I had some pigeons back when I was in the sixth grade, and I was astounded to learn a simple fact: pigeons meet, fall in love, and mate, within three weeks. Doesn’t matter which pigeons, they are all the same.

Now this is a no brainer in the worst sense of the word.

And are you going to tell me that a man isn’t smarter than a pigeon?

I have known people who could look at a technique and know it. Instantaneously. We are just that smart. So why can’t everybody do that all the time for everything?

We can.

Matrixing methodology will let us. Will push us forward.

The thing we really have to learn, in this fat of being smarter than a  pigeon,  is that we no longer need to learn by the monkey see monkey do method. We no longer need to copycat, in our strivings through the mythical method. We can use science, empirical method, logic, and all the other wonderful things that are inherent in our being.

We are just that smart.
