On Creating Your Own Martial Art

You Have to Create Your Own Martial Art…

or you don’t really know the martial arts.

A True Martial Art is an act of creation. A simple statement with far reaching effects.

Art is the break down and synthesis of the old into the new.

The funny thing is that most instructors frown on the act of creating anything new. The most popular method of teaching is to have the student copycat, exactly and without deviation, what the teacher says and does. But a fight is always new and original, and requires creativity to win.

medical thriller with nasty consequences

When are you going to fight back? When have you had enough? Maybe soon, if you read this frightening novel.

creation of martial artThus, if you are going to win a fight, it behooves you to learn how to be creative. Interestingly, nobody has ever written a course or book on how to be creative. Isn’t that interesting, a whole art that has no creativity in it?

To be creative one has to break apart the current method of teaching one is engaged in. Thus, one method for being creative would be to simply take the moves of the forms and interchange them. Take a sequence from classical karate, say the first set of specific movements in pinan three, and then do the second specific set of movements from pinan four, then the third set of specific movements from pinan five…and so on.

The first thing you will learn is that these things don’t fit together. So, how can you make them fit together? How can you adjust the footwork, and the geometry of the arms, so that the movements fit together and even make sense?

Another thing you are going to learn is that things don’t always work. Doing the blocks in this order would never fit a normal attack. So, explore not normal attacks, and, tweak your movements until they do fit a normal attack.

Another thing you will find is the impulse to do different things. Simply, you are going to start to create. Your mind is going to start exploring channels that normally would have been closed to you.

As I said in the first paragraph, art is the fact of creation. Honestly, people should drill you to death, help you make every movement your own, instill art in you. But, even more honestly, if you don’t start taking the movements apart and reconfiguring them, all that drilling is going to be about as good as a death knell, so you’d best seriously consider this concept of Creating your own Martial Art.

The Perfect Martial Arts Body

How to Get the Perfect Martial Arts body

Some guy looks like an elephant, another guy looks like a twig, another guy is lifting weights like they are going out of style. Some guy is working on speed, another guy is working on power, and another guy is working on technique. And the question here is…what is the best type of body to have in the martial arts. What is the perfect martial arts body.

perfect martial arts body book

For the perfect Martial Arts body download ‘Yogata: The Yoga Kata.’ Click on the cover above…

Do you want a body that is filled with muscle, and so strong that if it gets hit it doesn’t hurt? Do you want a body that is lean and lithe and able to be flexible out of any situation? What is the best kind of body to have in the martial arts?

The solution lies in comparing and contrasting types and attributes. A body with lots of muscle has fast strength, but it is usually short on endurance. Carrying those muscles around costs something in the length of energy.

A body that is too lean has flexibility and speed, but sometimes you need mass and weight to make a punch potent. A punch depends upon transferring weight, you see, and if the body doesn’t have the weight, the punch will suffer. The trade off here is that if your body is skinny you can increase your speed, which will increase weight, but that is not always reliable in a fighting situation.

So this is what I want you to do to solve the conundrum. First, give up all fast food and soda drinks. This stuff is pure killer, and that is easily proven if you just look at the people coming out of the doors of your local hamburgery.

Second, give up all pasta, bread, and that sort of thing. Your body doesn’t digest synthetic food easily, and the food tends to congest and make the body fat. Really, examine all the foods you eat, and avoid anything that is manufactured.

Okay, you’re saving truckloads of money by eating veggies with a bit of protein every day. The protein could be hamburger patties, portions of chicken, turkey, fish, and so on. Red meat should be rationed out gently.

What you are going to observe is the weight will drop off easily and smoothly. You’re body is going to become lean and muscled and last long and have tons of extra energy, and this will start happening almost overnight, at the least, you will notice differences within a week or two. Combine this with your martial arts work out and you will shortly find that your body begins to assume the perfect shape, bulk, mass, speed, and everything else, for you are now eating what nature designed for it.

Chuck Norris Puts Out Line of Pink Martial Arts Gear!

Chuck Norris Wore Pink to Beat Up Bigots!

It’s true, a whole new line of pink martial arts gear, and it’s pretty obvious Chuck Norris is coming out of the closet. At the very least, coming clean about a not so honorable period of his life.

kenpo instruction manual

Reson and the Age of Kenpo Karate

Apparently, many years ago, before he became more famous than Rock Hudson, Chuck used to tend bar. He would wear a pink apron and pick fights with anybody who made a remark.

He was young, and he excused such behavior by saying, ‘I just want to rid the world of bigots.’ On the side he would say he was just looking for ways to practice his martial arts.

And, you can believe the above is true because…I read it on the net!

Actually, a fellow wrote into a forum I was on and wanted to read an article on this thing he had heard about Chuck Norris wearing pink and picking fights with drunks, so I thought I would oblige him.

The fact of the matter is that I was learning martial arts, I was a new instructor at the local Kenpo school, when Chuck was making  a name for himself on the martial arts tournament scene.

Every week, it seemed, Chuck was winning a tournament, taking down some of the biggest names, taking home the biggest trophies.

Then, a couple of years later, when I was a black belt and out teaching at my own martial arts school, he became a movie star!

Man, we would flock to the movies, watch him beat holy heck out of uunsavory charcters, and we would cheer!

My particular favorite fight scene of his, more even than the battle with Bruce Lee in ‘The Way of the Dragon,’ is in the martial arts/horror flick ‘Silent Rage.’ There is a reality in the barroom fight with the bikers that is so darn nifty it takes the breath away.

Now, over all the years of Chuck Norris, all the movies and the TV show, I have never heard anything scurrilous said concerning him. In fact, people would always remark how he was the most polite fellow they had ever met, how he went out of his way to be kind to people.

Tough guy? Maybe. Certainly a tough karate fighter.

Bad guy? Not to my knowledge.

Wear pink and beat up drunks? Negative.

In spite of all research, in spite of my sleazy talents as a yellow journalist, I could find no mention of Chuck Norris wearing pink and beating up bigots.

All I heard was good things.

And, the Chuck Norris line of pink Martial Arts gear? Made it up.

About the Author: The author began martial arts in 1967, and does not use a pink pen when he writes. He has written over a dozen martial arts books on such subjects as Pang Gai Noon, Kenpo Karate, Marine Corps Martial Arts, the One Year Black Belt System, and, of course, Matrixing Karate. A Scary Reason to Study Marine Corps Martial Arts

It couldn’t happen…could it?

Here’s a reason to study MCMAP (Marine Corps Martial Arts Program) that I never thought of.
I like to read conspiracy theories, I actually subscribe to ‘Before It’s News,’ check out people like Alex Jones, and veer my life towards a survivalist bent.

survivalist martial artA friend of mine said, ‘You know, when the bankers destroy the world, you’re going to be fighting the US Marines.’

I blinked.

First off, banksters don’t want to destroy the world, they want to control it. What’s the good in owning something that’s all broken?

But, that said, one of those banksters (I forget which one) actually said, ‘It’s cheaper to kill a million people than control them.’

Yikes!
Double yikes, because the country is owned by the banksters, and you know those guys wouldn’t hesitate to ‘Send in the Marines.’

So the military might actually, in the extreme, in spite of the constitution, be used to ‘put down rebellion,’ ‘control mobs,’ and so on.

And the marines are part of the military, and even if the marines aren’t used against the people other military branches study Marine Corps Martial Arts.

So my wacko friend actually had a point.

Would the marines break the constitution and come to your home town and kick some serious civilian ass? I really think that’s far fetched, but everybody thought Kent State could never happen, let alone Waco or Ruby Ridge.

So the point is, whether you get into the Marine Corps Martial Arts or not, it might be handy to know what they are, how they work, and so on.

Knowing the fighting style of people that are trained to kill would certsainly jack up your current martial art.

Anyway, you never can tell when that cop who’s got rhoid rage has been militarily trained, and maybe in MCMAP. That security ‘expert,’ fresh out of the USMC and highly excitable, pushing people around at the sports event, he might have been trained in MCMAP.

Mind you, I don’t think the marines are our enemy, else I never would have written the Fixing MCMAP book. But it behooves you, in this odd and changing world, to know all the fighting skills you can, and especially if they might be the discipline that is used against you in dire circumstances.

How to See Behind Your Head with Karate Head Trick!

Extra Sensory Perception through Karate

A Karate trick to see behind your head. Hmmm. Are you ready? you’re gonna have to change the way you think to get this one. And, I hate to say it, there are going to be a lot of people that scoff and turn away. They just can’t grasp it, and it even frightens them.

japanese samurai swordfighting

Find out the truth about real samurai swordfighting

And, I should say, this trick works for most karate, kung fu, aikido, tai chi, or other martial arts systems.

It doesn’t work for MMA, or systems that take their joy and training methods from street fighting motivations. Sorry. Just doesn’t work.

So you do your forms. That’s the trick. But let me explain.

To understand you must have awareness.

Awareness is an interesting fellow.

Perception, you see, is observing something through the body. Through the eyes or the ears, the skin touch or the nose smell.

Perception can’t tell you what is behind your head. Eyes point in the wrong direction. Ears tilted forward. Nose on front. Got it?

But, you can be aware behind your head. It is like a sense of radar. You just feel.

But the trick is in realizing that you aren’t eyes and ears, you are awareness. Awareness is what looks through the eyes and ears and other perceptic tools.

Awareness, and here is where a few people are going by by, is a point in all directions. It radiates.

It tends to group of the eyes, however, and the ears, and other points of body sensation.

But it is not body. It is…that which is you.

Cut off your arms and you are still you. Cut off your body, you are still you. Cut off your head…you are still you. An awareness. An awareness without a body, mind you, but still an awareness.

So you do your form, and here’s the interesting thing: you can do your form until you are moving it without muscular exertion. In other words, you think and it moves. You become aware and it moves.

Unfortunately, most systems don’t practice this. They build the muscles, increase reaction time, and never realize that moving the body has nothing to do with those things. Moving the body has to do with the Awareness that owns it having a thought about the body moving.

So most martial arts never tap into the true potential. They build muscles, but not awareness. What a heresy. What a sacrilege. What a waste.

Anyway, if you go to monstermartialarts.com, start looking into the matrixing thing, especially the Master Instructor Course, you will come across the rules for using the body the right way, the way that uses awareness, and therefore liberates awareness.

If you don’t, then you can spend a lifetime and never access the real you.

Four Stages of Mind over Matter

Think and It Shall Happen…Through the Martial Arts!

May the force be with you. Did the Egyptians levitate those pyramidal building blocks with their minds? I wanna have the power of mind over matter!

if you don't have a mind it doesn't matterHey, who doesn’t. The problem is, you don’t see anybody else who has it, either. Even the bible, translated through seventy different special interest groups, is not entirely believable when it comes to matters of the mind over matter.

That said, the first stage in learning how to have powers of mind over matter is to learn that the body is a machine. This can be done through many different methods, but the best one I have found is good old martial arts. You have to translate a lot of stuff into physics, and there is a lot of bushwah out there, but if you stick to the empirical method you can actually isolate True Martial Arts.

The second stage is learning how to use the mind. The first stage, in teaching you that the body is a machine, opens up the mind, but most people misunderstand what has happened. They think they have to build their bodies more, when, at a certain point, they have to use their bodies less, and energy less, and let their mental powers transcend any desire for physicality.

The third stage, interesting enough, deals with an analysis of flow, such as in Aikido, or Pa Kua, or others of the soft arts. Once flow is mastered, the third stage starts to manifest, and this is a stage of imagination. Can you make people back away from you just by looking at them, can you fall somebody down with your intent, as opposed to actually touching them.

The fourth stage is going to be available after you have achieved the abilities I’ve just described. This is going to be where you make stones levitate. Can you take imagination and make the things of the world do what you want them to do?

Can you imagine a stone lifting, and it lifts solely through your imagination? This is not muscle, and is, in fact, in a direction opposite to muscle. Though, remember, it is necessary on the first stage.

The real key is in understanding, not in mysticism, for mysticism is the fact of words and concepts not really being understood and therefore not really usable. The real key is in running imagination through your body on the lower levels, and then being able to manifest that imagination outside your body. Of course, at this point, you should probably find a workable method for isolating the exact physics of The True Martial Arts.

But to start from scratch, go to MonsterMartialArts.com and find a course on good Kung Fu.

Why I Chose MCMAP…

MCMAP is for People Who Want to Kill

The reason I chose the marines (MCMAP – Marine Corps Martial Arts Program) to pick on for my latest martial arts book is interesting.

survivalist martial artFirst, the Marine Corps isn’t a McDojo with trophies in their window, they are men dedicated to killing.

Second, on inspecting MCMAP I could see that they had fallen into some of the traps Martial Arts systems fall into.

The basic techniques are drawn from boxing, not Karate or kung Fu or some other martial art.

The grab art techniques were out of order, and selected for reasons that go against the grain of self-improvement.

The relationship of techniques was not well addressed.

Don’t get me wrong, the thing works, and well, and especially in view of the fact that they are training a bunch of fellows that are often short a clue.

But it could be better.

It could be a real martial art where people actually suffer enlightenment.

And one of the questions I entertained, as I tweaked and rearranged MCMAP, was whether the marine corps would want enlightened troops.

On one hand, the soldier would be smarter, he would be prone to analyze, and intuitively, any situation.

But would he follow orders and go into the guns of the enemy?

Man, that was the $64,000 question.

And I think the answer would depend on the quality of leadership, and the information passed down to the grunt.

If a fellow went through MCMAP, and did become enlightened, he would have to be educated as to the value of the mission before charging forth. It would take smart leaders to do that, and the mission would have to make sense.

An enlightened man is as willing to put his life on the line as an unenlightened man. Maybe more so.

But he’s not stupid.

The fellows at the Alamo likely knew they would die, and just to buy a little time for their fellow Texicans to make up an army. They made an educated and enlightened decision.

And, should MCMAP take hold and begin transforming today’s modern marines, they would have to make the same enlightened decisions.

And I think the fellows in charge are going to have to be smarter, and communicate in a complete and thorough manner, their mission goals.

Anyway, it is a conjecture, but it is backed up by the fact that armies of the east have engaged in this type of martial arts training for millennium.

You can pick up ‘Fixing MCMAP’ on Amazon, or here… http://marinecorpsmartialarts.wordpress.com/marine-humor/

Guaranteed, whether you are a martial artist or a marine, or a marine to be or whatever, you will find the work scholarly and effective. After all, it is based on the martial arts of a very unique group of killers.

Where Do You Go to Find the Best Martial Arts

Your Best Martial Arts for Dedicated Survival…

The Best Martial Arts. Let’s see, a McDOJO with lots of karate trophies, an MMA training camp for the UFC, a traditional Karate school, a…none of the above.

survivalist martial artIf you want to find the best martial arts you have to look for the people who would be using them i the most dangerous situations. And that wold be the marines.

I know, the marines mostly use rifles, but their MCMAP (Marine Corps Martial Arts Program) has as its motto, ‘One Mind, Any Weapon.

They train in a variety of weapons, in a variety of situations (from kill the sucker to simple restraint), and they are more serious than the guy down the street who is enrolling students.

Further, you won’t find a surplus of padding to fool the senses, you won’t be next to a ten year old child, you don’t have to worry about your mother crying if you go home with a boo boo.

What you will find, in the extreme, how to kill somebody as quickly and efficiently as you can with anything near to hand, or just with your bare hands. And, in the less than extreme, nifty joint locks and such for controlling the unruly without sending them to the undertaker.

Now, that said, there are a few things that can be (look over my shoulder in trepidation) fixed. Whew! nobody heard me, so I’ll say it again. There are a few things that can be set right with the program.

The strikes are more boxing, and don’t utilize certain body mechanics, and lead to effortless power. The grab arts are a bit out of order, and don’t take into account certain potentials, freestyle needs a more gradient approach, there is some confusion as to the relationship of empty hand fighting methods versus fighting methods using weapons. And so on.

HOWEVER, that doesn’t make the marines fighting system bad. It just means there are a few things you can do to tweak if for more understanding, faster learning, and so on.

Now, this is what you do. You google the marines fighting system, MCMAP, Marine Corps Martial Arts PRogram, etc., and download it for free.

Yep. Free. Don’t you love the sound of that word?

Then you order ‘Fixing MCMAP,’ by Al Case. And you pay for it…Boo Al! Oh, it’s not too expensive? Okay. No boo. Just a shrug and don’t go to McDonald’s this afternoon. Better to learn the most efficient way of tweaking the most dangerous martial art in all the military, which means probably the world.

Then you go through the manuals, side by side. See what he’s talking about, do the system with a few tweaks, and, voila, you are deadlier than a marine with foot fungus!

okay, just joking. You won’t get foot fungus. But you WILL get a state of the art, modern, tak it to the death martial arts system that is supported by the few, the proud…the marines.

Here’s the URL for Fixing MCMAP. For googling the official MCMAP manuals from the marines you’re on your own.

Five Martial Arts Books Written over Twenty Years Make an Encyclopedia

I Wrote an Encyclopedia of Martial Arts

There are five books in the Martial Arts encyclopedia, and they cover Karate from China to America, from the first transmutations of Kung Fu to the latest scientific innovations.

sanchin kata pan gai noonPan Gai Noon, is on of the more important Chinese Arts that influenced Karate

Kang Duk Won is a pure form of Karate before the Japanese went power crazy on it.

Kwon Bup is an American version, very powerful and straight forward.

Outlaw Karate is the record of my attempts to create a style of Karate that could be done in one year. A black belt in one year really is a heady concept.

And the last book, Buddha Crane Karate, begins going into matrixing concepts.

I haven’t listed as an encyclopedia (though I did at one time), and that is because these five books were written over a twenty year period. They have different software programs, different technologies, and, taken together, they are ragged. So I list them as separate books, but they are an encyclopedia of Martial Arts. They are all technique, not a lot of words, just the actual moves.

You can find the Encyclopedia of Martial Arts on this page.

A Real Martial Artist! The Grin Reaper!

If you’re Not a Real Martial Artist the Reaper is Grinning!

Okay,
I was thinking about something last night:
What is a Real Martial Artist?
The answer,
interestingly enough,
is incredibly simple.

A real martial artist is one who is still doing martial arts after many decades.

Now a kid who is studying in a McDojo is a martial artist,
but he won’t be a real martial artist for maybe twenty or thirty years.
That guy who studied for forty years then stopped,
he used to be a real martial artist,
but now he’s not.
A real martial artist,
you see,
is in it for life.
They are going to find him
on the day of his death
stuck in rigor mortis
frozen doing his form
even while laying in bed waiting for the Grin Reaper.

And there is a reason I bring this up,
and state it so baldly.
There is a reality that is achieved through the martial arts.
It is a reality of being able to analyze and handle the universe
through the method of the martial arts.
It creates a stronger more aware human being.
So, when you stop doing martial arts,
are you still getting stronger and more aware?
How could you be!
And if you aren’t going up,
then you must be going down.
I hate to say it,
but…
weaker and less aware.

I stopped the martial arts for a year
when I was 28 or so.
My father had died,
I had to move into his house until the will had been handled,
and I was sad, away from my schools, and decided to just retire,
think about life and zen for a year.
I wasn’t in that house more than a couple of weeks
before I had cleaned out the garage
set up sword stations,
placed rugs on the cement
and was doing forms
and aikido rolls
and immersing myself in tai chi books.

The thing is
I found that nothing else worked like the martial arts.

You work out
you walk the street proud,
aware,
able to handle anybody,
and you are getting smarter and more perceptive.
You start to understand why people do what they do.
And I found that I just couldn’t back off from that journey,
that method of enlightenment,
that way of being strong and smart and good,
and of feeling that life really was
my particular oyster.

Interestingly enough,
I have watched the people around me
over the last forty years,
and the differences are astounding.
I feel like a 20 year old.
They walk on canes,
and drag oxygen tanks around.
They have trouble getting out of a chair,
they can’t get down on their hands and knees to do some bit of work.
In short,
they are effectively crippled.

They aren’t martial artists.
And,
they have become virtually handicapped.

But it’s even worse.
Their thought processes are bad.
They don’t remember things,
they make decisions that are…feeble.
They can’t think.
Their conversations are a retelling of memories.

They don’t think of going out in the countryside
and creating a martial arts temple like monkeyland,
they just worry about money
and wait for the Grin Reaper.

what kind of a life is that?

And all because they aren’t martial artists,
and certainly not real martial artists.

So,
we come to the end of this missive.
I’m about to set off on another great adventure.
Have no idea what is going to happen,
but I have plans and things to do
and life is F***ing GREAT!

Is your life great?
All you have to do is the martial arts.
You can revitalize yourself,
get back on the horse,
lose that propensity for doddering in memory,
and start living life.
Just head down for the nearest martial arts school.

Heck,
you could jumpstart yourself by heading over to monstermartialarts.com!
Or,
small steps first,
pick up a book on matrixing.
Here’s a link for Matrixing Karate: White Belt.

http://www.amazon.com/Matrixing-Karate-White-Belt-Volume/dp/1496132734/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1394551723&sr=8-1&keywords=matrixing+karate+al+case

It’s the first step,
tells you the truth about the basics,
gets you started,
and there are four more books you get to go through:
Green, Brown, Black, and Red (Master)

So,
there you go,
a wish for your best health,
a stronger you,
a you that stays young until the day of your death,
which will be delayed by many decades,
to say the least.

So,
now you know what a real martial artist is
and I hope you go for it,
or dedicate yourself anew,
and make the best of yourself you can.

Now,
have a GREAT work out,
and know that working out
will help you get everything you ever wanted.
