How To Handle a Sudden Gun Attack if You Don’t Know Karate, Kenpo or Aikido, or Anything!

Still the mind and expose the soul!

You don’t need such arts as Karate, Taekwondo or Aikido to handle a sudden gun attack. Though, to be sure, grin, it would help. That said, let me tell you an interesting tale of a friend of mine in Mexico City.

He was walking down the street, stepped across the mouth of an alley, and a fellow told him to stop. My friend stopped because the guy in the alley had a gun pointed at him.

‘Give me your money,’ the bandito said. It was a sunny day, but they were in the shadows. Realizing that he had no choice, my friend reached slowly into his pocket, took out his wallet, and held it out.

Here’s where it gets good. The bandito actually reached out for the wallet with the same hand he was holding the gun with! That’s right, he tried to hold the gun and take the wallet with the same hand.

My friend just grinned, and then proceeded to enact his own, made up pistol defense. He then slapped the gun with the wallet, which caused the thug to drop the gun. Then, though he didn’t know Kung Fu or ninjitsu or anything, he gave the idiot a good, old-fashioned, American punch on the side of the head.

Man, he hit that guy hard, and the wanna be robber hit the ground hard. I mean, there were two sounds. The sound of my friend hitting him in the skull with knuckles, and the sound of the idiot’s head hitting the ground.

So, what’s the lesson here? The lesson is that the most important thing you can have, in a situation, is the will and the opportunity. My friend had both, and he used them well. Now, it sounds like I’ve dissed the martial arts here, but let me tell you something.

My friend was an ex-cop, he had gone through all the training, learned judo holds, disarming techniques, how to handle unruly perps, everything. He said that it was his cobbled together piece of mind, if you will, brought about by his training in how to stay calm while under fire, that saved his life, wallet, and ended poor Pancho’s career. So I tricked you with the headline, but it was for a good purpose…you should study Taekwondo, Karate, Aikido, or some martial art if you want to survive in a world where such things as a sudden gun attack can occur.
